Fortification of Quebec

On top of a plunging cliff overlooking St. Lawrence River stands the Fortification of Quebec.

This defence system was developed between 1608 and 1872 as Canada’s military strong-hold during the colonial period.

Today the Fortifications of Québec is a picturesque attraction for visitors who get the opportunity to experience the past of this National Historic Site.

It encircles the upper town with 4.6kms (2.5 miles) of paths and walkways that open up your mind to the history of the area.

It’s easy to travel back 300 years as you take either a guided tour or roam around at your own pace.
