Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live underground? Maybe it’s not something that appeals to you. But in an outback town of South Australia, most everyone lives underground.

Coober Pedy, 846 kilometres north of Adelaide on the Stuart Highway is famous all over the world for its beautiful Opals, and has supplied the world with quality opals for many years. But it’s also known for something else – its underground living.

Since 1915 miners dug hole after hole uncovering sparkling Opals until one day someone thought, why waste a good hole, and began to build their homes in the same holes they pulled the Opals from.
